Blackheads are a form of acne that forms caps of hardened skin oil on the opening of pores. This cap traps further skin oil production in the pore often forming a hardened piece of oil. The caps also prevent most medication from reaching the diseased tissue underneath prevent healing. Thus getting rid of blackheads often requires a preliminary process of removing the caps and plugs prior to application of medication.
